On March 23, the Asia Content Business Summit (ACBS), aimed at strengthening the content industry in Asia, held an open seminar entitled "Collaboration for Made-in-Asia" at the Hong Kong Entertainment Expo (part of Hong Kong FILMART 2010). During the session, Casio Entertainment made a presentation as a member of the "CAP Initiative," that promotes the development of a common production platform for international content in the Asian region.
The presentation, entitled "Asian Common Platform," discussed problems encountered in joint production and the concept of an effective platform tool as a solution to the problems.
Later, Mr. Fred Wang (Chairman of Salon Films and Honorary Secretary on the Board of Directors at the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society), together with five Japanese creators active in Japan and abroad, held a panel discussion on the same topic and discussed the necessity of an international joint production platform from their respective points of views. As the active participation of the audience proved, parties from both the public and private sectors of the Asian content industry expressed strong interest in the themes discussed.
ACBS is a network of interested parties from the private and public sectors of the Asian content industry aimed to expand the regional market by improving collaboration. At the first ACBS held in 2009, a joint declaration calling for cooperation among those from the public and private sectors of the Asian content industry was issued, and various endeavors has been ongoing to further strengthen the content industry. The open seminar was an occasion to provide an interim report of the progress being made ahead of the second ACBS, and was jointly organized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Japan Association for International Promotion of the Moving Image (UNIJAPAN), Hong Kong International Film Festival Society, and Hong Kong Trade Development Council. |
