On March 24, international conference "The New Wave of Computer Generated (CG) Animated Films: Can Independents Compete?"(organized jointly by Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Screen International), aimed at analyzing the future of CG animation films from the perspective of production and distribution, was held at Hong Kong FILMART 2010, and Casio Entertainment Executive Director Hiroyuki Seshita participated as one of the panelists.
Under the theme, "can independent companies compete in the market?" panelist from and outside Asia involved in the creation of CG animation films shared their experience while showing their works and discussing issues like 3D, cost, PR, localization, storytelling and music. Topics of discussion included thoughts on works incorporating Asian culture, expectations towards CG animation production in Asia which has become more active in recent years, as well as the possibility of the merging of traditional Japanese 2D animation and 3D animation technologies, all indicating the prospects of a further vitalization of the CG animation industry.
